She gets out!

Its time to sleep mama.. i'm sleepy...

It was an election time, which I had to put myself to be one of the loyal citizens in voting the eligible party. I was not actually have the spirit to go out seeing that I have not think which one to vote in the sense of I hate what has been done the Pak Lah’s gov lately. Well, since my Hubby didn’t have the chance this year, I had to do what I’m supposed to do.

That was the first time we took Sophie out, put her on her car seat, I saw she loves to explore everything that she saw explicitly. We know that babies are so vulnerable to germs during their first month but as she almost 2 month, we thought it could be okay for her. Anyways, she has been out when she was 1-month-old for her 1st immunization, I don’t think there is a problem with that.

Could we go somewhere else? i'm bored...

After Sophie almost 3-month-old, we’ve been traveled to her Opah’s house in Perak. It took around 5 hours to reach there and it was tiring enough for us. But as long as we have a good car seat, I think it would be fair enough for Sophie to cope. That was a wedding for Hubby’s younger brother and it was going to be a Majlis Bercukur Jambul for Sophie. For unforeseen circumstances which most probably it was not a right timing, her Majlis Akikah has to be postponed and will be held at Melaka soon, perhaps during Aidilfitri. It was a fabulous event in the efforts of her Opah to get everthing done by her, helped by neighbors and in-laws.

Urghh.. this is unfair.. how come u have a beautiful long hair n mine is so short?

On the April 10th, we went PMC for her 2nd immunization. Her pediatrician, Dr. Azam, is verr likeable and soft spoken guy; well his job suits him I think. One thing for sure, for some inexplicably, I was amazed when Sophie did not cry since her 1st shot. I do not why, but she must a very strong cute girl, which Dr. Azam also surprised that she didn’t cry. Well definitely not liker her mama, always frightened to get a shot, heart pounding like seems never stopped, throat thickening and... i will finally weeps. Hahaha…

Surprisingly, too fast in seeing Sophie was learning how to roll. She was able to move from her side to her back and so forth effortlessly. I could see she could lifted up her head for a few seconds yet not toughen enough to get little longer. She needs stronger neck and arm muscles for that maneuver. Anyhow, she's being more adorable and funny...hehehe..

2-month princess

I can not believed everything is so fast. Time flies… last time I remember I was still carrying my little princess all around with my big belly. At this moment I am holding her at the very front of me she is smiling. When I was pregnant, I was afraid and was thinking about our responsibility as parent all the time. I can’t believe that I could do all those parenting thingy, how do I change her diapers? How do I deal with her sickness, her crankiness and can we be a good parent? What if we could not be a good parent? God… I was so depressed. We shoulder very high responsibilities.

Apparently after Sophie was born, it become exceptionally a great experience and after spent time more with her, the chaotic first month are over, I must say I was not bad at all. Sophie bedtime schedule has become more predictable and just getting tuned into her needs. We have bought her very own Fisher Price newborn to toddler rocker. She was blur with those toys around the rocker but she seems animated with it. I could see she has recognized me now as her mother. And believe it or not, she starts gurgles and making vowels sounds. She could smile and sometimes when I was offering a rattle or soft toys she made an effort to hold it even for a few seconds.

Even thought it was a bit tiring since Sophie is fully breastfeed, I am not letting it bothered me. As for me, this is the least thing I could do for my baby. I was trying to divide my precious time for my loved ones – Hubby and our little princess, I must admit I am not an expert; however I will do the best to getting better.

That Day

This was the 1st draft that i've written long time ago. Edited and now ready to publish. Since I am busy starting to work after the confinement, this chapter of my life has changed. Started to go to the office, was a terrible and nightmare for me; whereas I have to change from cuti2 mode to job mode and left my baby with the stranger that I barely know. God! Anyways, everything has been ok and now it’s been better ever since the nursery has moved to other unit where just only babies around. No more toddlers surround my baby.

U know, I used to bring Sophie’s lotion in the meaning just to get smell of her.. hahaha!! I miss her so much. Everyday we couldn’t wait to get her; at 5.00 on the dot, we chiowww! That’s normal for all of us the mamas and papas. Each person has to admit that our children are the best part in our life.

We have thought to do some decoration for our baby room. But, since this is rental house, we think that’s irrelevant plus, Sophie is fully breastfed, so most of time she has to be with me. Her papa bought her lots of soft toys; he managed to get some at IKEA alone. We put her cot at the hall during my confinement, and moved it to our room after my 44-days of hell has end.

However, I did break some rules when I went to Pavillion and I was only 3 weeks after gave birth and I ate whatever I wanted to eat, I ordered pizza and Hubby brought me some food from the stall. Auspiciously, Hubby has done all the housework, he cleaned the house, did laundry and he even cooked for me. Hmmm… thanks my dear… you make me proud. Ok.. that’s all for now. Next will tell you how’s Sophie doing when she was 2 months old and our very 1st time met her pediatrician.

To comfort you newborn

Most babies cry for an average of 2 hours a day in the first 3 months. So while it may be disconcerting, it’s also normal. To comfort your baby, first try to determine the cause of your baby’s discomfort.

Is your baby hungry? Does your baby have gas? Does your baby’s diaper need changing? Is it time for a nap? Is your baby over stimulated by noise, lights, or activity? To help soothe a sleepy or over stimulated baby, hold your baby on your shoulder while gently rocking your baby. Sing or speak softly to your baby—reassure your baby with a calm voice. It can also help to rub your baby’s back as you do so.

Try different positions to find one that’s comfortable for both of you. Something else to consider: your baby doesn’t have much mobility in the first few weeks and may cry for help if he or she is lying uncomfortably in the crib. You can help your baby get comfortable by gently shifting your baby’s position. But for safety, always place your baby on his or her back for sleeping. If gas is the cause of your baby’s discomfort, there are two simple solutions. The first is to hold your baby gently, but securely, over your arm in a face-down position, known as the “gas hold.” The second may be to consider an anti-gas medicine such as Infants’ YLICON® Drops. Infants’ MYLICON® Drops have been trusted by moms for over 30 years and are the #1choice of pediatricians. You also can try "Telon" and rub/massage on his or her tummy. It will do the trick.

Sophie couldn’t sleep well when she was few weeks old. It was really tiring and depressing moment which you find it is very hard to handle your newborn. Remain calm and relax will make you much more understand how you could deal with it. Would you do it by your own self or would it be easier with your parents around to guide you? I must say, yes it is but praise to God, I handled it appropriately without my parents’ supervision.

After 1 month, Sophie already had managed to cope with her daily routine and sleep time. I could sleep better and got much more time to relax. I did not do any housework or cleaning my house with all the dusty and messy, because I believed relaxing would heal your pain off.

After the first few days I was feeling a little more confident about holding, bathing, feeding, and changing my newborn. With plenty of practice with these things over the next few weeks and months, and this new routine will become more familiar to me. I always asked my hubby to try to do it but he preferred to do it after Sophie physically ok.

It was challenging to deal with your fragile newborn but I believe you have to read lots of guide book to guide you and experience will make you cope with it regardless of how’s the pain you bear during labor. hehehe...

I could still remember the 1st time I hold my baby. Sophie was just fine when her mama naturally could hold her without fear.Not the moment when we first got our baby nephew, Aiman. Everything seems so fragile. My sis was right. You can't tell the feeling. When you are ready, everything seems perfectly natural to be a mom. Yes... now I know...

Sophie - 10 Feb 2008

10 Feb - while kept awaiting for my contractions begun, we watched some movies to overcome my nervousness. Gynae came, he said, still.. no progression.

Dr. Idris decided to get me induced and break my amnion sac. After about an hour, the staff nurse came and checked my dilation. progressed about 1 cm. Kept waiting till contractions are coming at relatively regular intervals but the contractions tend to be mild. When the dilation about 6 cm, the contraction became longer and stronger. At 1st, i still can tahan, and after 1 hour, i've decided to get the sedative injection. Staff nurse was asking me if i wanted either the injection or epidural. I think she might be thinking that a woman like me couldn't stand the pain. I rather not... i think i wont need it since my mom n my sisters could do it. So do i...

About 2.30pm, my contraction getting worst. till 3.00 pm, i knw she is ready... whilst i was in pain, my hubby turn on the Quran on my Macbook and SubhanAllah... my labour wasn't that bad at all. My labour went well, not as i imagined before. No one could tell you what were the experiences you will face during labour. But, I would say it's amazing. It won't bother me as i am jz worried about my baby. With my hubby by my side, everything seems easy to me.

4.15 pm - Natural birth by forceps... Sophie Camilla Arianna... welcome to the world honey..

I am in Labour Ward, Pantai Med Ctr, Bangsar. We are still waiting for our little ones. Gynae said i have only few cm dilated, yet not enuf with the contractions happened.
