The Event.. Modern Mum Hot Pregnant Mama Contest 2011

At the Mom & Baby Expo 2011, Mid Valley on May 5, I was on stage for the Hot Pregnant Mama Contest. I was late, totally damn late since the salon just opened at 10.30am, and I was running late since I also waited for my younger sister. Lucky I had her by my side since there was no way to find a parking in MValley that time. Not even a spot! Hence, I asked her to park my car, and ran to Modern Mum boutique for the changing session (Modern Mum was the sponsor), and rushed to the Expo. I knew I was kind in a mess, practically not ready for everything, and I was sad when I could not get Hubby on the phone to ask his blessing. He might be on his way to the mosque for Friday prayer, so totally understandable. He already given his blessing anyway that morning, but it's good just to hear from him before I start.

We were given 5 questions which randomly picked only 2 on stage and there were also 2 general questions we must answer. Organizer gave us a package for the contest, with the question, a form and Contestant's lucky number. Well.. I was the contestant No.1 and with the mess, with no time to prepare the answers, I was like..... what??!!! But definitely I didn't show the nervousness etc.. I knw I was nervous, I pray and pray.. recited some du'a, and slowly I was a bit calm and relax, even God knows how fast my heartbeat that time. However, alhamdulillah, I would say, I wasn't that great, but at least I was not nervous, remained calm during answering the questions, and... I answered confidently even I was lost some points. They came anyhow they could ;). Well, confident is the key right, even how hard you know the subject. After a while, I was actually grateful that I was the first one, because I think I was the only contestant gave lots of idea with long good answers (perasan!). Noticed by oberserving the answers from other hot preggie mamas but not some since they were spoken in Chinese.

Anyway, whatever it's I'm proud of my baby bump regardless I won or not, and... Yeah.. i'm the Hot Mama! Ok now, enjoy the pix!!

Yeah!! Weeee...!!! Dats all I can say when the moment I saw an email from Today Publishing admin informing me that I'm one of the contestant for... "Modern Mum Hot Pregnant Mama Contest 2011" in conjunction of 2011 Mom & Baby Expo organized by them. I know it sounds bimbo..hahaha.. me?? But trust me.. I was just trying my luck when I posted 2 pictures for the contest. And it was only via email... click and click and click..send..voila!

I actually was wondering when will they announce the finalist since I'm not Parenthood monthly subscriber. I usually buy if I think they are discussing some important issues that I interested in. So when the mail came out, I looked for the magazine during lunch and showed them to Hubby with surprise. Hubby didn't say much, but he was smilling, a decent perhaps because I knw this is kinda 'bimbo' to him. Hahahaha!! Sorry Hubby.. I jz wanna have fun since there's a lot in my mind lately, at least this could be a distraction to me... mana tau rezeki baby kan?

can you spot me? honestly, i don't like this photo compared to the other one. But maybe this is the lucky photo with my lucky baby.. yeah! can't wait to flaunt my baby bump..i'm proud of it!

FAV SONGS...

We could see now Sophie is developing in her speech, songs, grammar and vocabs... When I 'supervised' her doing the coloring, she was singing "Twinkle twinkle little star" while I was listening with surprised. For me, each words get clearer and better; than before she just bluntly sang the song without understand the meaning of it. Now, it seems that she understood each word of them.

NO DIAPERS!!

It's been 2 weeks now, since Sophie has succeed to survive her night time without nappy. Alhamdulillah.. it's started when I accidentally forgot to put the nappy on before she slept one night. When I woke up the next morning, I was jumped out from my bed (it's quite high tho) cz I just remembered Sophie slept without the diapers on. First thought in mind, 'she's definitely had been totally wet right now.. blame me then!!'... However, surprisingly, she did not... I was shock..what a relieved! But, waited no more, I've got her diapers on and straight to the bathroom.

After a while and reading 2 or 3 articles regarding the toilet training, I had the couraged to make the trial. I knew I supposed to avoid the headaches etc, but if it's worth the effort, why not? So, that time I was simply ignored the routine, and hoped she do not pee or poop while asleep. 3-4 times a week, I've been waiting if the accident happened, and just get mentally prepared for that. In fact, even my mom convinced me that she's totally dried up when I asked my mom whether she's accidently pee or not after we sent her every morning, Alhamdulillah, I believed Sophie was ready for a change.

Now, the moment I write this, Sophie has succeed with her toilet training, no nappy/diapers entire day and night... Alhamdulillah.. betul la kata org, bila kita start to have another children, Allah akan cuba meringankan beban kita sedikit demi sedikit.. dengan berkatNya, I know Sophie is ready to be a big sister soon!!

Fears of lizards and cockroaches

It is so funny to see Sophie shrieking at the sight of bugs and cockroaches. One other thing she can’t stand with is lizard. I think she can blame me on that for ‘over terrified’ of lizards because I was always jumped off when I saw lizards around. And what about bugs and cokcroaches? I have no idea, but I think that’s because she had the influenced by her Aunt Noi who always over reacted over bugs. Me also don’t like it either. I know most people do not like cockroaches. It’s mainly because they’re dirty and weird. Ok the truth is they gross me out. So does Sophie, she might think these bugs would have done something with her if they are just nearby.

Well, it is normal that our toddlers are demonstrating appropriate fear right now. Most children go thru this stage and it’s almost like a switch goes off and all of a sudden we can’t investigate spider webs anymore or visit our local park because of the bee’s! I just think that we have to be patient and not read into it too deeply until they are older. To have better solutions, we should not continue to have earth shattering fears that may show your child to have a form of anxiety, which is unlikely.

I found in my experience, not making too big deal about stuffs...if Sophie would freak out I would simply acknowledge it, and say I understand and it’s ok, the bugs won’t hurt you (even I also quite scared of it). I also find that if I show MY fears, forget it, it’s a life-sentence to a small child. I told ya, that’s what happened to Sophie when I was terrified with lizards. Now, she can even spot any lizards in or outside the house in no time, because she’s so afraid of them. At one time, when we’ve been to PD and there was a ‘big lizard’ – biawak outside the house, she just stands in our room and refused to go wherever even that ‘big lizard’ can’t be seen. Well, it’s kind of scary for me as well, that biawak was so big, and I’m typical lady who have an irrational fear of lizards or any animals yg merayap.. ergghhh!!!

Some kids may be soothed if you try talking more directly about the fear: See they develop fear from adults, they must have seen someone screaming when they saw a bug and it has registered in their mind and refuses to let go. But don't minimize your child's fears. Bluntly stating there's "no such thing" or "nothing to be afraid of" isn't logic they are going to buy into. For them it’s very real I guess...we never know… so, our job is to help them cope, reassure them and make sure they feel comfortable confiding in us. Or else, you can bring it up to his/her pediatrician. See if the pediatrician sees reasons to be concerned (and most likely he won't).


Please don'ts:* Don’t force your kids to confront their fears. I don’t think they are equipped to do that at this age.* Don't tell them that "big kids aren't afraid." That doesn't take the fear away. It just adds pressure and makes it more difficult for them to come to you.

Family gathering @ PD

We had a gathering or two every year for our family especially on my side. And as usual, even how boring we are to travel around KL-PD-Melaka, we intended to have it in just nearby to make sure everyone can afford to go. My mom's family especially, not everyone of them can afford to go quite far than KL, so to be fair to those who are not willing to spend lots of expenditure, we have done it again in PD. Then, that was the 1st time I've succesfully got the reservation done in Residence Desa Lagoon via FMSU PETRONAS. Finally!! We glad that all uncles n aunts really loved the facilities... in fact they want to come again for next gathering.. alhamdullilah.. the facilities's good, esp the pool.. of course we had a hard time to prevent Sophie to go to swim at certain time cz the pool jz in front of our house...hhhmmmm... so mmg sunburn la minah kecik tu.. we also had mini sukan, which i was the one hosted and organized dat sukan. Adoii... stress nk handle all the makcik2 yg kalo i pakai microphone with the biggest speaker pun blum tentu dpt kalahkan diorg.. hahahha!! But, honestly.. dat's fun, totally enjoyable... ;)... so after 3 days n 2 nites stayed, everybody were thanking us for everything, which we didn't do much actually..n yet feel appreciated.. ;)

Mini me vs Sophie

If everybody looked at Sophie and know her Daddy, default comment i heard were - "OMG!! she looks like her dad!"..or "a copycat of her dad but in female version"...or "o yeah at least she has your eyes"... whatever the commentaries are, I will take it as a compliment.. well, she's her daddy's little girl, so what?!! hehehe...!! Whether she or her other siblings would resemble me or their daddy, I won't mind at all... and even we hoped that they will turn out to resemble us because to think how hard we gone through during our 40 weeks pregnancy, I don't think it'd matter. Honestly, I don't mind at all.. cz I know, we both going to love them to bits...
